Walk, Run, Bike or Golf?

The largest park in Plano, Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve, is only 5 miles away. The park has 3.5 miles of concrete trails and 5 miles of soft surface trails located along Rowlett Creek. This park also has horse trails as well as biking and hiking trails. In the spring, you should visit the wildflower area or catch a performance at the amphitheater. This is a nature preserve, so please be watchful for wild animals, venomous snakes, insects and poison ivy.

If you want to walk or bike all the way to downtown Dallas, you can do that on the Preston Ridge Trail, which is about 10 miles away. It starts just south of Hwy 121 on Ridgeview Drive and connects to the Cottonwood Creek Trail. The Preston Ridge Trail is 6.3 miles long and within an overhead utility right-of-way which links Fretz Park, Salado Park and Campbell Green Park.

If you prefer to do your walking on a golf course, the Pecan Hollow Golf Course is less than 3 miles away. This course opened in 1973 and was renovated in 2011. It offers 5 sets of tees, lighted driving range, a 5-hole short course, a chipping green with 3 practice bunkers and a 14000 square foot putting green. If all that playing has built up your appetite, stop by their bar and grill.

So get out of your Gateway Crossing apartment and into nature and the sunshine.
